mkvmerge uses a library called avilib for reading AVIs. avilib supports
OpenDML files as long as they're valid. I don't know a lot about the AVI
file structure, and to be honest I'm not really motivated looking into
incompatibilities between mencoder's AVI muxer and mkvmerge's demuxer -- I
know a lot of the issues mencoder has had in the past and I simply don't
want to spend time on this. Sorry.

If Darl McBride was in charge, he'd probably make marriage
unconstitutional too, since clearly it de-emphasizes the commercial
nature of normal human interaction, and probably is a major impediment
to the commercial growth of prostitution. - Linus Torvalds
