I'm not dead, guys, just slow. ;). We dont' have any fixed API for
tracks or anything yet. We only have plans for that. Reason is simple:
most common file formats don't use it. You can always use gobject
parameters as a start. Later on, it could be implemented as a
hard-coded, specific track API.

I didn't actually look at your code, still a bit busy. I'll try to look
at it when I've arrived in New York.
