Hi
I think you want to just ignore fansubbing and I m not interested in
conflicts between devs,
but just for record--not just for you--
as a plain truth, real users/leechers do love one of mkv's new features,
no matter how devs think what.

A typical conversation...

[2003-10-10 16:41:08 +0900] <user A> *mkv
[2003-10-10 16:41:17 +0900] <user A> this is really good format
[2003-10-10 16:41:20 +0900] <user A> better then ogm :I~
[2003-10-10 16:41:25 +0900] <user B> yeah
[2003-10-10 16:41:31 +0900] <user A> just seeing pictures :I~
[2003-10-10 16:41:55 +0900] * user A is wondering if its work at win98se
[2003-10-10 16:42:06 +0900] <user B> oh you can't tell from pictures
[2003-10-10 16:42:15 +0900] <user B> it's only a container format
[2003-10-10 16:42:23 +0900] <user A> hehe yeah
[2003-10-10 16:42:26 +0900] <user A> i mean
[2003-10-10 16:42:32 +0900] <user A> its bettter then ogm
[2003-10-10 16:42:40 +0900] <user B> agreed
[2003-10-10 16:42:42 +0900] <user A> cause the subtitles actually have
effects
[2003-10-10 16:42:45 +0900] <user A> and stuff
[2003-10-10 16:42:56 +0900] <user A> the softsub way are better :S

Actually "User A" doesn't know what he is talking about very well,
but he means S_SSA.

Use A and B are both avarage end-users, not devs nor subbers who use MKV

Honestly, as a user (subber) what I love is not Matroska itself, but
soft-ssa.
I will try MPEG-4 container too as soon as I can freely embed a better
sub format in it.
I know MPEG-4 can do many things when everything is ready

Just FYI, here's subbers' conversation--we know something in MKV is not new

[2003-10-10 21:40:39 +0900] <Subber A> did u hear akraze did trilingual
scrapped princess in matroska?
[2003-10-10 21:41:47 +0900] <Subber A> chinese, japanese english
[2003-10-10 21:43:21 +0900] <Subber A> well...anime-kraze is big group
like aone...
[2003-10-10 21:43:22 +0900] <Subber B> so they fansubbed in 3 langs
[2003-10-10 21:43:26 +0900] <Subber B> or just ripped from dvd?
[2003-10-10 21:43:51 +0900] <Subber A> raw is from dvd, but it's fansubbed
[2003-10-10 21:44:25 +0900] <Subber B> but i m seeing a lot of things
now in MKV
[2003-10-10 21:44:30 +0900] <Subber B> for instance, ranma 1/2
[2003-10-10 21:44:39 +0900] <Subber B> or Initial D
[2003-10-10 21:44:47 +0900] <Subber A> are they using matroska's special
abilities?
[2003-10-10 21:44:54 +0900] <Subber A> like karaoke/etc
[2003-10-10 21:45:00 +0900] <Subber B> DualAudio
[2003-10-10 21:45:07 +0900] <Subber B> not that special
[2003-10-10 21:45:09 +0900] <Subber A> ogm already has it
[2003-10-10 21:45:13 +0900] <Subber B> even avi
[2003-10-10 21:45:43 +0900] <Subber A> doing matroska just for matroska
is baka
[2003-10-10 21:46:14 +0900] <Subber A> if u do matroska, u should use
it's abilities...
[2003-10-10 21:46:23 +0900] <Subber B> not true
[2003-10-10 21:46:31 +0900] <Subber B> just using matroska will make
your file smaller
