Hi. I've the same opinion about this case as Yang.
Predefined UID is really needed. Moreover is already partially done (ChapterUID and EditionUID).
There lefts TrackUID and AttachmentUID only (and maybe a date of muxing). It should be possible to
include variable which is checked. When is predefined in command line, then variable takes 
predefined value. If not, then takes random value (or actual date of muxing if we talk `bout a date of muxing).

The second case: I wonder why Matroska can't use AVITags? This requre rebuild the header?
There is no any possibility to emulate this, to Player "think" that is authentic AVI Tag?
I ask because I'm interested (I haven't any claims).
