Error: "out of memory"


.mkv-video file: 1.7GB that


Purpose: convert mkv tot DVD-format


Manual followed: I tried

without success.


I get the error in AVI2DVD "out of memory", now I have runed
<http://www.matroska.org/%7Etoff/MatroskaDiag.exe> matroskadiag.exe version
1.0.66 and it gives the same error.


PS: The video plays normaly (sound and vision) in Windows Mediaplayer AND in
the old 'mplayer2.exe' player from windows.


 


System: I had 1GB RAM and I have upgraded to 2GB RAM, the max alowed virtual
RAM have I increased untill 8GB , still the same problem.


 


What could I do to convert it to DVD-format?

for now quite 1 year, it seems there is no activity on it. Are the 
developper too busy for now ? Do they think the media wrapper is 
complete or sufficient ? But maybe I'm wrong and only the site is not 
maintained !
Can anyone tell me a bit more about the project status for now ?

               sorry for the noob question but i was searching the mailing lists and i didn't come across this question so i thought id ask you guys this .. i have some mkv files which by default has ..japanese audio ..track 1.. and i wanted it to be set by default to english .. track 2 .. i believe its just a tag but im wondering what tool would be the easiest way to edit this ?

Dear PC-Welt people,

First, i am not interested if you need to send these requests for 'legal 
reasons', its annoying and causing me unnecessary work. It is clearly 
visible on the sourceforge project homepage that VdubMod is GPL. If you 
are too lazy to look this up, thats your problem. As you seem to know 
well about the GPL license and what its about, you should know that 
THERE IS NO LEGAL REASON to ask us about distributing it .... the terms 
are 100% clear, thats what the GPL license is about.

Second, VdubMod is certainly not free from third party rights, espcially 
not as a binary. There is a MPEG1/2 decoder built in, so whenever the 
binary is distributed, the MPEG-LA is requesting from the distributor to 
pay license fees. Sourceforge has that covered, your magazine certainly 
has not.

Third, the latest build is 1.5.10.2

Fourth, VdubMod is more or less an abandoned project, there is no active 
work on it anymore. It works as it is, but less and less people intend 
to use VfW (VCM) codecs for their video compression needs, so it is 
bound to die anyhow one day.

Fifth, this will definitely be the last email you will receive from me. 
Yes, the program is GPL and we gave you allowance 4 times already to 
distribute it (if you dont fear the MPEG-LA coming after you, that is), 
and thats definitely enough.

perfect matroska support, you need to include mkvmerge/mmg 
(http://mkvmerge.matroska.org) or avi-mux GUI

If you don't want to join but split files, use mkvextract from the 
mkvtoolnix package (there is also an GUI available on the net if you 
don't like command line programs).

Your file is named term2.avi. Are you sure it's a matroska file ? 
Otherwise MatroskaDiag will not give you any result.

Maybe your file is missing data somewhere ? Is it fully downloaded (I 
assume you didn't create the file) ?
You may try to remux the file with mkvmerge or AVI-Mux GUI and see how 
this remux file behaves.

As explained in mkvmerge reading that kind of file is not really 
supported as it's a hack we don't want to endorse (H264 handled as VfW). 
But using the DVD conversion guide you might be able to handle the file 
the same way as any other file.

  The River Past video cleaner supports mkv (packs required) conversion and even has web tutorials to show you. Since river past is also a microsoft affiliate, I think that means matroska is taking a big step to taking over the media formats.

DirectShow based video conversion (e.g. from MKV to MPEG2) will 
typically not support 2-pass encoding, resulting in inferior picture 
quality in any case. Sorry, but i guess we can not recommend this method.
Anyhow, we are looking at a new program called MediaCoder 
(http://mediacoder.sf.net) based on Linux' mencoder, allowing for great 
flexibility and perfect quality.

We are not hiding but we have changed several times of server.
Now team-mkv ( aka ? )exists for more than 2 years with the same goal which
is to promote matroska container. And we are still waiting for this damn
matroska menu support :-)
Hopefully I have seen in another thread that you are working on it with
tcmp.

        Hi. I would like to ask how can I rip DVD menues and add them into 
the container. Which is the appropriate utilities? Now, I am using 
GordianKnot to produce a mkv with chapters and MKVtoolnix to add srt subs 
and attachments. I have read that the long-waited menue system is ready and 
that the VLC player can play a mkv with menues, but I don't know which is 
the utility I have to use. Please help me if you can. Thank you.
