[Matroska-devel] DVD-style menus - what tools do I need?

I understand menu support is still pretty much experimental at this
stage, and I'd like to help with a GUI tool if I can. At the moment I'm
just trying to make a proof of concept, which is proving extremely
difficult. I've used dmx to extract a dvd, but I'm pretty sure it's
done the chapters wrong as looking at VTSM01_menu.xml gives chapter
timecodes that don't correspond to VTSM01.m2v (for reference I'm
extracting the Led Zeppelin DVD, disc 1)

As an aside, I'd also like to be able to check the other output files
for correctness, but I believe I need some special tools to do it - i.e.
the .btn/.idx/.sub files. I suppose it doesn't help that I don't yet
know what these are for, or the .tmc files.

Is there some software I can use to examine these files and is it
obvious what I'll be looking for or do I need to understand a spec
somewhere.

My final question is if there are other examples of matroska files with
menus other than the placebo one? As of the latest version (0.8.6d),
VLC does not highlight the menu options when rolledover. Is this a
deficiency in VLC, or the .mkv file?

Okay I'm done!

Regards,

Fraggle
